We both like the show, Mythbusters. Before we gave cable up for lent, we used to watch it together fairly regularly. I think Matt even has a season or two on DVD.
Well, the people of Esparto, California, became quite intimately acquainted with the show when an explosion created for an episode of Mythbusters blew out several residents' windows.
"'It was a boom that was just -- I had never heard anything like that before, it was really wired,' said Sherril Stephens.
"The explosion was so big it shook the town of Esparto, knocking Stephens off her couch and breaking her front window."
The Fire Department had been on hand to monitor the explosion, which was intended to test a myth by knocking the socks right off of a mannequin. Unfortunately, the blast was bigger than expected, shocking residents across town. Mythbusters replaced several windows in the area gratis. Now the town can't wait to see the episode air.
